Accelerated Program, Honors Classes, Teacher Assistants

Seventh graders who demonstrate strength in math and science, not only on tests but also by teacher recommendation, may be invited to become part of our accelerated 8th grade program whereby they take high school freshman level science (earth science) and math (algebra) as eighth graders. We also offer honors credit for English 8-11 if the student maintains an 88 average or higher throughout the school year. These opportunities position them to be able to take our Advanced Placement courses (English, Calculus, US History, European History, Biology and Physics) in the junior and/or senior years of high school with the possibility to earn college credit. (The college/university to which the student has been accepted determines whether or not credit is given for the student’s performance on the AP exam. Not CCA.)

Select upperclassmen may be candidates for our popular student teacher assistant program whereby they serve in many classrooms and activities of our younger students. It is a structured program in which the participants must meet regularly with their supervising teacher, develop and fulfill assignments and receive a grade for their work.
