Advanced Placement

Christian Central Academy currently offers six Advanced Placement courses (as defined by the College Board):

  • AP English Literature
  • AP US History
  • AP European History
  • AP Physics
  • AP Biology
  • AP Calculus

For a student to be eligible to take an Advanced Placement course at CCA, he or she must be recommended by his or her teacher and evidence sufficient academic strength to handle the rigors of the college level class. A student must maintain an 85 average to remain in an AP class and be eligible to sit for the AP exams each May. Exams are graded on a 1-5 scale, with 5 being the highest. Most often a student must attain a grade of at least a 3 to receive college credit, which is awarded only by the college to which the student applies, not by CCA. The accumulation of one or more AP courses for which a student receives college credit allows the student (and parent) not only to save on college tuition expenses, but may position the student to complete the college program in less than four years.

AP Scholars

Each year the College Board recognizes students across the country who have demonstrated outstanding performance on Advanced Placement exams. Top performing students may be named AP Scholars, AP Scholars with Merit, AP Scholars with Honor, or AP Scholars with High Honor. Since 1999, CCA graduates have consistently been named AP Scholars for their performance on these exams.
