Each day CCA welcomes over 430 students from 26 different school districts located in 3 different counties. Many of our students arrive at school via busses from their own public school district of residence.
New York state law provides that if a student lives within fifteen (15) miles of the private school at which the parents wish to enroll their child, their public district has the responsiblity to provide that transportation. However, it is up to the parents to contact their district’s transportation office to request such service. Most districts require the parent submit the request by April 1 preceding the school year for which transportation is desired. Exception: CCA contacts Williamsville and Buffalo transportation offices for all CCA-registered residents.
The only exception to this is if the municipality in which one resides describes itself as a “city.” Those municipalities then have the option whether or not to provide that service. The City of Buffalo does provide students attending private schools with a free Metrobus pass. Many of our families carpool.
