News from the Erie County Music Educators Association solo festival

On Saturday, January 7, 2011, 12 CCA student musicians participated in the Erie County Music Educators Association solo festival event held at Depew High School. This is the first of several solo festivals sponsored by the organization, allowing qualified student musicians from all over the county to perform before and be evaluated by judges. Under the direction and guidance of their music teachers, students select compositions at diffculty levels commensurate with their current proficiency. Difficulty levels range from 1 - 6.

Special congratulations to CCA eighth grader, drummer Jonathan Ziegler and sixth grader, violinist Isabel Murphy for their exceptional scores. Jonathan performed a level 5 piece and scored at a 97%. Isabel, who serves as concertmaster for CCA’s Middle School String Ensemble, scored 100% on a level 4 difficulty piece. We are proud of all our students who participated in this specific event, all of them scoring above 90%: Ava Fogg, Cameron Visone, Elyssa DeSing, Megan Fry, Andrew Congdon, Michael Murphy, Naomi Holmes, Rachel Martinic, Bryan Donovan, and Joshua Ryce. Keep practicing and best wishes for continued success in other upcoming ECMEA and NYSSMA festivals.
