Daily Life

The CCA student family enjoys a wide variety of activities outside of class, some curriculum related, some just for fun, some for personal and group growth.

High Schoolers launch the year with a special retreat at Camp Li-Lo-Li in western New York’s Southern Tier.

Annual Homecoming festivities take place the last Saturday of every September.

The entire school enjoys Winterfest Talent Show in February.

Interscholastic and intramural sports, opportunities of Christian Service to the Community, class fundraisers, dinners and parties are some of the activities that create lasting friendships and memories.

Chapel and Special Speakers: As a corporate expression of our community faith commitments, CCA schedules a chapel assembly for grade 6-12 every Tuesday morning and for grades K-5 every Tuesday afternoon. Chapels may consist of music, praise, prayer, and special speakers. Once a year we dedicate four mornings during one week as “Spiritual Life Emphasis Week” with daily chapels speakers focusing on specific themes to deepen our spiritual lives.

Dress Code: In our continuing effort to provide an environment that will work toward fulfilling our mission as a Christian school, CCA has adopted a dress code that seeks to combine and reflect in our student body all the attributes of a well-groomed, modest, and wholesome presentation. To that end, we have selected specific items from Land’s End Company (www.landsend.com/school) as the standard for all CCA student attire. (CCA has also approved dress code selections from http://www.choiceuniforms.com/ and http://www.flynnandohara.com/)

While details of expectations for chapel day dress (Tuesdays), concert attire and grade-appropriate modifications are clearly outlined in the CCA dress code (together with standards relating to jewelry, accessories, hair length, etc.), most often all CCA young men will be wearing khaki or navy belted slacks or walking shorts with a solid color oxford-style shirt or traditional-style polo shirt. Young ladies will most often be wearing khaki or navy knee-length skirts or skorts, or belted slacks or walking shorts (shorts in Sept-Oct and May-June), or navy or khaki jumper, with a solid color oxford-style shirt/blouse or traditional-style polo shirt. All students grades 6-12 may wear concert attire anytime. Virtually every week, CCA observes a “Dress Down Day” - a small ongoing fundraiser where students, faculty and staff may wear a non-dress code item (but always a dress code top) and pay $1 for the “privilege.”

The full CCA dress code is given to all families once registration is complete and is printed annually in the Parent-Student Handbook.

The CCA school day begins at 8:25AM when students are expected to be in their classrooms/homerooms. Punctuality is expected and excessive tardiness endangers a student’s ability to receive credit for classes. After morning announcements, pledges to the American and Christian flags and school-wide prayer over the P.A. system, all grades move into their first class of the day – Bible. The school day consists of 8 typically 40-minute class periods, concluding at 2:55PM, once again with afternoon announcements and school-wide prayer.

In addition to the regular twice-weekly physical education classes, all elementary teachers (K-6) endeavor to take their students outside for recess as much as possible as weather and time allow. At this point in the life of CCA, we are unable to provide any structured after-school care programs for students.
