Christian Central Academy is pleased to introduce Matthew E. Calderón, who will serve as Head of School beginning July 6, 2026. With more than 30 years of experience in education, a deep commitment to Christ-centered learning, and a passion for investing in the next generation, Mr. Calderón brings a wealth of leadership experience to the CCA community.
Mr. Calderón most recently served as Superintendent of the Pembroke Central School District, a role he held for 15 years. Prior to his time as superintendent, he served for more than eight years as Principal of Pembroke Intermediate School and held additional leadership roles at both the elementary and secondary levels.
Throughout his career, Mr. Calderón has been known for his commitment to academic excellence, strong leadership, and a deep investment in students, families, and faculty. Under his leadership, Pembroke Central School District was consistently recognized among the top-performing districts in Western New York, earning high rankings for student achievement and overall performance.
He has led through significant seasons of growth and challenge, overseeing multi-year strategic planning, managing large-scale capital projects, and guiding district-wide initiatives in curriculum development, STEM programming, and professional development. His work has emphasized both strong academic outcomes and a positive, supportive school culture.
Mr. Calderón holds New York State certifications as a School District Leader and School Administrator and Supervisor, along with a background in art education. He earned degrees in educational administration from Canisius College and SUNY Brockport and completed superintendent development training through SUNY Oswego.
After more than three decades in public education, Mr. Calderón felt called to serve in a setting where faith and learning are fully integrated. He is passionate about helping students pursue lives of purpose in Christ while being equipped academically and personally for the future.
Mr. Calderón is a devoted husband and the father of seven children. His commitment to family deeply shapes his perspective on education and his desire to partner with parents in the growth and development of each student. He is an active member of Grace Baptist Church in Batavia, where he has served in a variety of roles including teacher and church leadership. He is also actively involved in Christian higher education, having served as a board trustee and in leadership roles for Clarks Summit University.
Mr. Calderón’s journey reflects God’s faithfulness in preparing him through years of leadership, family life, and a deepening commitment to Christ-centered education. Under his leadership, Christian Central Academy will continue to flourish as a place where students grow
in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and men.
