"We can never underestimate the value of a supportive faith community in our lives. CCA provided me with remarkable value by giving me an environment to learn, grow, and mature with godly and supportive teachers and leaders in a critical season of my life. Staying connected to and appreciating the foundational significance of these communities and relationships in our lives cannot be overstated. We don’t live out our faith in isolation; we are part of a bigger family and we are stronger in our lives, in our families, and in our faith when we stay deeply connected to communities that encourage us toward a love for Jesus and for each other."
"Christian education is part of who I am. I graduated with a very small class from CCA; there was only 13 of us in that graduating class. We were a close group, but we also had very close relationships with our teachers. The incredible teachers I had at CCA during my high school years were the reason I decided to become a teacher myself, and why I ended up teaching at CCA for 5 years (2006-2011) after graduating from Houghton College. They, as well as my parents, laid that foundation for me. They taught me what it meant to be a Christian teacher, and to infuse the Bible into every subject they taught, and into every area of your life. I carry this with me today. While I am no longer a teacher, those values instilled in me are what shaped me to be the leader I am, as an assistant principal for the last 6 years in Collier County Public Schools and now as high school principal at First Baptist Academy in Naples, FL. Mrs. Nurline Lawrence was the head of school at CCA for my 10th-12th grade year, and then she was also the head of school for all the years I worked at CCA. Looking back, she was an incredible leader with a heart for students, the Lord and a desire for the entire school to know and love Jesus. She is the type of leader I hope and aspire to be like as I grow into my new role as High School Principal at First Baptist Academy."
"My love of science developed while I was at CCA. Such formative years are critical.
Lois Frazita was my first and third grade teacher. She was probably the first one to really intuit my academic potential, and gave me the courage to stretch myself as far as I could go.
Science is an indispensable tool for understanding how the world works, but it cannot tell you how to properly conduct yourself in it. It can tell you how to build a nuclear bomb or create a lethal supervirus, but not whether you should. Paul spoke rightly when he said "... as we look not to the things that are seen but to the things that are unseen. For the things that are seen are transient, but the things that are unseen are eternal." (2 Corinthians 4:18)"
"CCA provided both of us with a strong Christian foundation, both academically and socially. We had teachers that truly loved God and us, investing in our lives in so many ways. The smaller class sizes allowed us to build strong friendships that continue. Our best friends from high school remain our best friends today. The memories are countless and CCA assisted in laying the foundation we needed to succeed in college, our careers and taught us about a way of living for the Lord in all of these areas, but most importantly in our family. And I found a pretty amazing husband which is a bonus!"
"I have a four-year-old daughter who will be starting school soon, prompting me to reflect on the impact my own teachers have had on me. I remember the kindness of Miss Kristy in Kindergarten, Mrs. Hand encouraging my sense of humor, Mrs. Backus helping me secure a summer job, Mr. Hills teaching history and igniting my passion for public service, and Mrs. Wells whose lessons on Proverbs set me on a lifelong quest for wisdom.
Throughout my career as both a prosecutor and a defense counsel, I have encountered people from all walks of life facing challenging situations. The education I received at CCA not only kept me out of many difficult situations in my youth but also provided me with the moral compass to navigate those challenges later in life. Additionally, it gave me lifelong friends who supported me when I inevitably faced my own difficulties."
