Read Across Buffalo is a summer reading initiative designed to inspire students from kindergarten through 12th grade to develop a love for reading while exploring the Buffalo community.
Through engaging literacy events, exciting challenges, and special rewards, students and families can make reading a fun and interactive experience all summer long.
With partnerships across Western New York, including Explore & More – The Ralph C. Wilson, Jr. Children’s Museum, Read Across Buffalo connects readers with local landmarks, special events, and opportunities to earn great prizes while building lifelong literacy skills. Explore
Visit Buffalo’s iconic locations like the Buffalo History Museum, Explore & More Museum, Botanical Gardens, the Buffalo Zoo, and more. Each one you visit, color in your map for an extra star!

Dive into your favorite books and enjoy the journey of reading.
Track
For every 20 minutes of reading, color a star on your special Path of Stars map.

Start your summer reading journey with us at the Canalside Children’s Book Fest! Pick up your reading map, learn about this year’s program, and get ready for a summer filled with reading, exploration, prizes, and fun.

Celebrate your reading progress with us! Readers who reach the halfway point on their reading map will receive a special prize. Plus, every child who attends will receive a free book while supplies last. Enjoy a special celebrity reader and Anderson’s Ice Cream as we celebrate a summer of reading together.

From July 1 through August 31, participants can enjoy a free docent-led tour of Buffalo City Hall offered by our partners at Explore Buffalo. Tours are held Monday through Friday at 12:00 PM.
